Eric Kreplin: Lead Singer Harmonica Player
Eric's father is the one who really turned him on to the blues. Through his father’s music Eric now know's how hard it is to make it in this crazy mixed up world. Eric can understand what it means to put your heart and sole into your music, because no matter how crazy this world can get no one can take the passion for music away from him. Through out the years Eric has been influenced by a lot of professional harmonica players like Jr Wells, Paul Butterfield, Cory Bell, and William Clark, but one of Eric's local heroes in harmonica playing, is when Eric's father played in the Willy Pierce Blues Band. The harmonica player in that band was so great, his name was Rick Sarono. Rick made Eric want to learn more about the blues harp. Then a couple of years later his dad saw that Corey Bell and Ted Hennessy, Tom Townsley, Uncle Ben were all going to be playing at the egg. Eric's father asked him if he wanted to go and Eric said to his father that "He wouldn't mess it if Pam Anderson ask him for a date on that night. Well I don't think I'll go that far, but anyway, that night changed Eric's whole view on the blues. It was like going to a business seminar, and Eric's ears were taking it all in. They were selling CD's called The Best Of Central, NY Harmonica Blow-Off. Eric had Tom Townsley and Ted Hennessy sign his CD, that's where he met Ted Hennessey. Eric took 3 of 4 lessons with him, and leave it to Eric to tell you that "there is nothing like being taught by a pro". Over the years Eric has played in many different bands. The very first band that Eric played in was with his father called “Mojo Magic”. The lead singer was Fred Goodrum. According to Eric, Fred's vocals are the best that he had ever heard in the capital area, and along with Kenny Briggs who by far is the best front man Eric has ever worked with. Kenny always had the crowd on it’s feet. Years passed, then Eric met up with Fred again. Eric joined his band called "Brown Shugie Blues”. From that moment on Eric was flying solo from his father. While working with “Brown Shugie Blues” He increased his skills on the harmonica, because he was playing with some of the great players in the capital area such as Jeremy Waltz, Chris Worbleski and Josh Bloomfield. We made as far as Memphis TN for the International Blues Contest. Eric Has been playing harmonica sense he was fifteen . He opened for Jimbo Mathis. Dean Eric's Father has played in "White Hot and Blue" ('94-'95), The Willie Pierce Blues Band" ('95-'98... and even backed up Phil Guy [Buddy Guy's Brother] at RPI), "Mojo Magic" (2000) "Nite Train" (2003-2006) and now there is a Storm 'a' Brewin' between father and son as they combine their talents together to form STORM FRONT. (Rhythm Guitarists for Buddy Guy).
